TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Stair tread installation

Installing bamboo stair treads is not difficult for the average DIY enthusiast. Of course, it’s important to measure the existing stairs carefully and cut the treads accurately to size. The goal is a perfect, gap-free fit against the wall.

1. We recommend using a circular saw to cut the bamboo panel. Make sure you cut from top to bottom to avoid chipped edges. If you use a jigsaw, use a reverse-tooth blade (with the teeth pointing downward) for a clean cut in the wood. When stapling, write the corresponding number of the existing tread on the back of the bamboo stair tread cover.
2. Bamboo stair treads can be glued to almost any surface. The quality of the adhesive is important so the treads don’t come loose over time. We recommend using a good acoustic sealant with sound-insulating properties.
3. When installing the treads, start at the top of the stairs so you don’t have to walk on the new treads. Apply adhesive to the old tread and the edge of the old step, and position the bamboo stair tread cover according to the matching number you wrote on the back. Press firmly so the adhesive bonds tightly to the new stair covers.
