Wooden Pergola with Bamboo Poles

This unique and affordable DIY wooden pergola with bamboo poles is 270 x 270 cm wide and 300 cm high. The pressure-treated spruce is pre-cut to size and pre-drilled, so you can install and build the pergola kit straight away outdoors.

The wooden pergola can stand freely in the garden or on the terrace at home, but it can also be attached to a house or barn. The bamboo poles in the roof of the pergola support climbing plants, roses or grapevines to create a natural canopy.

Prefabricated wooden pergolas are quick and easy to install. The wooden posts can be mounted in post supports to maintain a height of 270 cm, or set into the ground (e.g. to a depth of 40-50 cm). You can shorten the posts if needed.

The pergola roof beams consist of 18 bamboo canes with a diameter of 28-30 mm. These bamboo canes fit perfectly into the pre-drilled wooden beams.

Ideas
A bamboo pergola can be used to create a permanently shaded walkway or seating area in the garden, on the patio or on a roof terrace. Thanks to the thatched roof, it can even provide protection from harsh glare in direct sunlight
Bamboo pergolas can also form an extension of the building for open-air garden activities, such as a swimming pool, or provide a structure for climbing plants to grow on.
As a temporary structure, they form a perfect centrepiece or intimate setting for special events, such as outdoor weddings, parties or festivals.
Alternatively, you can also wrap the joints of the bamboo pergola with manila or black palm rope for an ultimate tropical look.

Maintenance
Bamboo used outdoors weathers over time. We recommend treating the bamboo pergola annually with Bamboo Booster, a specially developed natural oil that increases durability and preserves the bamboo’s natural yellow or black colour.

Properties
The diameter of each bamboo pole varies. The dimensions stated are always measured at the base (or at the thickest point of the bamboo pole).
It is a natural characteristic of bamboo stems to be thicker at the base than at the top. The taper of bamboo poles depends on the type of bamboo and the length of the pole.
Bamboo is a natural product, so bamboo poles are never 100% straight.
Each bamboo pole is unique, so colour variations are possible.
Vertical cracks can/may appear in bamboo poles; this applies especially to outdoor use. Like wood, bamboo expands or shrinks when the temperature or humidity changes. However, cracks have no effect on the structural integrity of the bamboo.
