These beautiful reed fence rolls are made from unpeeled freshwater reeds. The reeds are approx. 6-10 mm and tied together with iron wire per row.

Classic reed mat on a roll – buy online

The classic reed mats give a warm look and create privacy on your veranda or balcony. As a temporary solution, the reed mat is especially well suited due to its relatively low price. Reed mats can be used in many ways and are mainly used as a cover against existing fences, wire fences, or on balconies and balustrades. Reed mats are also good for growing climbing plants against, or for protecting your plants from frost. Our reed mats hold back about 3 degrees of frost.

Please remember that this reed mat is not fully opaque. If you want a bit more privacy, we recommend double-mounting the mats for optimal density.

Reed fencing is cheap, environmentally friendly and has multiple uses. It can be used to protect outdoor plants from frost (a reed screen protects against 3 degrees of frost) or to grow climbing plants and vines. Reed fence rolls are used to protect personal privacy at events or industrial sites, but also to decorate old fences or mesh panels.

The lifespan of a reed mat is on average 4 to 8 years, depending on where you place it and the weather conditions.

Adjusting the size of reed fencing

• A big advantage of reed is that it is easy to work with. You can simply adjust the width of a reed fencing roll by cutting the galvanized steel wires to the desired width with cutters.
• To adjust the height of a reed fence, you can easily cut the stems to the desired height with pruning shears.

Installing reed fencing

We recommend installing a reed fence at least 10 cm above the ground to avoid direct contact with wet soil and to maximize its durability. Rest the fence roll on a wooden board while you install it, for example.

1. Size 600 x 160 cm, with screws of 3,5 x 25 mm. Place the screws between the canes and tighten them so that the washer presses the cane stems against the wall. Do this every 20 cm in a horizontal direction, and repeat at the top, middle and bottom of the fence to achieve maximum stability.
2. Installation of a reed fence roll against chain-link fencing or mesh panels is done using wire ties or cable ties. Wrap the galvanized wire ties with a double loop around the steel wire running through the reed fence roll and attach them to the metal fence.

General properties of reed and maintenance tips

• A reed fence roll is a natural product, so its dimensions may vary slightly. This also applies to its density/coverage.
• The minimum durability of the fencing (outdoor use) is 5-8 years. To extend its lifespan, use Bamboo Booster, a natural oil that nourishes and maintains natural fencing.
