Description

Pseudosasa amabilis, also known as Tonkin Canes or Tea Stick Bamboo, is a small-diameter, thick-walled bamboo species native to China. It is famous for its use as a plant support stake and as the primary material for making bamboo fishing flies or rods.

Naturally, Tonkin sugar cane is straight, with only a slight taper.
A small but very strong, rigid and sturdy bamboo species due to its thick walls.

A natural characteristic of bamboo poles is that they are thicker at the base than at the top. The taper percentage of Tonkin bamboo poles is approx. 10–15% over a 3 meter length.
Bamboo is a natural product, so bamboo poles are never 100% straight.
Each bamboo bar is unique, so color differences can be expected.
Vertical cracks may occur in bamboo poles, especially when used outdoors. Like wood, bamboo also expands or shrinks as temperature or humidity conditions change. However, cracking does not affect the structural integrity of the bamboo.
