Description

Bamboo Shield Exterior Oil is designed for outdoor use on new and previously oiled bamboo surfaces, such as decking, furniture, cladding, etc., for basic treatment and maintenance.

Bamboo Shield Exterior Oil is recommended to enhance bamboo’s natural colour structure. For renewing older bamboo surfaces, the pigmented oil is ideal, as it restores the bamboo’s original colour.

The special water-based composition of the oil components ensures that the product can be diluted with water. The oil provides a strongly water- and dirt-repellent surface and slows the growth of mould and fungus.

Bamboo Shield Exterior Oil is available in walnut colour and offers excellent UV protection.

Instructions

Clean old bamboo surfacesGREY-GO-with cleaning agent before starting the oil treatment.
Let the bamboo dry for at least 24 hours so that the moisture content does not exceed 17%. Sand any rough bamboo fibres with sandpaper, grit 120.
Apply only in dry weather, at a minimum temperature of 13 °C. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures.
Mix the oil thoroughly before use.
Apply an even, thin layer of oil with a brush. Treat the finish first — wet oil may appear whitish. Once the water has evaporated after a few minutes, the bamboo surface will look oiled.
Wipe off excess oil with a clean cotton cloth within 5 minutes at the latest. Take particular care when removing excess oil from joints and grooves.
If the surface does not appear saturated with oil, repeat steps 5 and 6.
Thorough curing of the oil takes 24–48 hours, depending on weather conditions and outdoor temperature. The bamboo surface must not be exposed to water during this time.
Once the bamboo surface is dry, it can be polished with a polishing pad or polishing machine to ensure an especially hard surface.
