How to Install Bamboo Blinds in 12 Steps

How do you install bamboo blinds? With our special pulley system and this step-by-step DIY guide, you can hang bamboo blinds in no time. Our roller blinds can be used both indoors and outdoors, and installation is quick and easy. It’s also possible to customise a bamboo roller blind by cutting the bamboo slats with our Japanese saw.

Step 1

Cut the 4 mm cotton cord from the included pulley system to the following length:

  • For a bamboo blind 200 x 200 cm = 1 piece of5   metre and 1 piece of6,5   metre.
  • For a bamboo blind 150 x 200 cm = 1 piece of5   metre and 1 piece of6   metre.
  • For a bamboo blind 100 x 200 cm = 1 piece of5   metre and 1 piece of5,5   metre.

 

Step 2

Take the shortest cord and tie the end to the top wide bamboo slat, 20 cm from the side. Tie the cordon the front   of the bamboo slat (convex side).

Attention! The side where you attach the shortest cord will become the control side, where the cords cluster!

Repeat the same steps for the longer cord, but this time 20 cm from the other side.

 

Step 3

Attach the wide bamboo slat of the roller blind to a window frame or beam. This can be done using screws, cable ties, or steel wire.

Attention! When using screws, pre-drill the bamboo slat to avoid cracking.

 

Step 4

Let the bamboo blind and the cotton cords hang all the way down.

 

Step 5

Now take a pulley and screw it into the window frame or beam. Do thisat the back of   the bamboo blind, 20 cm from the side, so it’s in exactly the same position as the cord you tied earlier to the front of the slat.

 

Step 6

Attach the second pulley as described in step 5, but this time 20 cm from the other side.

 

Step 7

Take the longer cord lying on the ground and thread the end through the first pulley.

 

Step 8

Then thread the cord through the second pulley.

 

Step 9

Take the shortest cord and feed it through the second pulley (where the longer cord comes out).

 

Step 10

Now take both ends of the cords and pull them until both cords are nicely taut. Then tie the ends of the two cords together.

 

Step 11

Pull the knotted cords, and your bamboo blind will roll up nicely and smoothly!

Step 12

Screw the plastic cord cleat onto the wall so you can secure the cords and lock the blind at the desired height.
